ManiMe: How did you get started in the nail industry?
Rebecca: I actually never intended on becoming a nail artist! I enrolled in beauty school in hopes of becoming a makeup artist and I fell in love with the nail portion instead! It was a huge career change, I was a classically trained chef prior!
ManiMe: How did you develop your nail art style?
Rebecca: My nail style is honestly all over the place. I pull inspiration from many things. I really love painting cartoons! I also love painting tiny murals that are inspired by nature and fine art. I would say my style changes often and I’m always evolving!
ManiMe: What are your favorite colors, textures, or techniques to use in your nail art?
Rebecca: I love using bright, vibrant colors, especially when painting cartoons. I am a huge fan of tortoiseshell nails as well, and I think I have perfected it.
ManiMe: Where do you typically find inspiration?
Rebecca: I find inspiration in nature pretty often. I love recreating different stones and rocks I see! I also find a ton of inspiration in other nail artists on Instagram. The nail art community is such a talented group!
ManiMe: What was the inspiration behind your Summer Nostalgia gel designs?
Rebecca: Growing up in Florida, I was in nature often. I use to go hiking with my grandfather in the Everglades, and we would pack snacks. I usually went for a big container of fresh-cut watermelon from Publix. Now when I think of summer, I automatically think of watermelon! Also while we were on those hikes, we would always come across DOZENS of alligators! I don’t think anything is more ‘Florida’ than an alligator.
ManiMe: What is your favorite at-home manicure, pedicure, or nail care tip?
Rebecca: CUTICLE. OIL. If you’re going to do ANYTHING, do this. It is absolutely essential. Cuticle oil not only extends the longevity of your at-home manis, but it keeps your bare nails looking great even if you aren't using any other products.
