ManiMe: How did you get started in the nail industry?
Bana: Nail art has always been a hobby of mine. When I started my Instagram account back in 2013, my only goal was to have fun. I had a different career path in mind but as the account grew, I started getting requests from various brands to do nails at their events. I decided to get my manicuring license shortly thereafter, and I’ve been working my way through the industry ever since!
ManiMe: How did you develop your nail art style?
Bana: My style constantly changes depending on what I am inspired by. I kept pushing myself to try more challenging designs, and once I learned how to create a variety of looks, I narrowed down my favorites and focused on perfecting those.
ManiMe: What are your favorite colors, textures, or techniques to use in your nail art?
Bana: I love anything bright and fun, but also that is a bit of a challenge. Water marbling will always be a favorite technique of mine because it took me so long to learn.
ManiMe: Where do you typically find inspiration?
Bana: Everywhere! Nature is probably the thing I am inspired by the most. And by other artists, too. I love recreating nail looks, paintings, and patterns, and making them my own.
ManiMe: What is your favorite at-home manicure, pedicure, or nail care tip?
Bana: Hydrate! Some lotion and oil can change the look of your entire manicure. It will also help keep cuticles and hangnails at bay.
ManiMe: What’s your favorite ManiMe Essential product to use?
Bana: I absolutely love the Magic Cuticle Pen. I don’t like having oily cuticles in my photos, and it adds just enough hydration without leaving too much shine.
ManiMe: What was the inspiration behind your Summer Picnic gel designs?
Bana: I wanted to come out with something colorful but not too loud- both looks have something for everyone! Both looks have fun elements to them but are still so wearable.
ManiMe: Describe your ideal picnic - where are you, what are you eating, and who are you with?
Bana: If I’m with my family, we’re usually a big group of people at a local park with tons of home-cooked food. When I picnic with friends, we stick to the beach and bring our favorite take-out. Both scenarios are so fun and special for different reasons.
ManiMe: What are you looking forward to this summer?
Bana: Being outside! I can’t wait to be around big groups again (never thought I’d say that!) and have lighthearted conversations with total strangers.
ManiMe: How do you keep your manis and pedis looking fresh during the summer?
Bana: Re-applying a topcoat is the best way to freshen up a mani or pedi. Sometimes I’ll even add another coat of paint first.
